Marie Lorenz' installation, Narrative,/Memory/Navigation, is a personal account of her journey in her kayak on the San Antonio River following the River Walk. She records her navigation of the river in various forms. Her kayak becomes part of the installation as well as drawings, wood carvings, and rubbings taken during her travels down the river. In the installation she makes references to other historical nautical journals that contextualizes and expands her passage. The physical installation at Artpace reconfigures these elements into an experiences that is both a documentation of her journey as well as a different navigational event.
