Erin M. Riley‘s work is the culmination of years of self reflection and research into the coping skills that have kept her in generational cycles of repetition. She learned to weave tapestries in college 20 years ago, and has used this medium to hand weave images, collages, ephemera, objects and drawings using hand dyed wool on floor looms. This traditional medium contrasting with the modern imagery has allowed her to slow down, both herself and the viewer, at this time of visual mass consumption to great effect. Riley’s work is exhibited worldwide, with every piece being made with her two hands.
