Julie Schenkelberg and The Mattress Factory

Harpo Foundation is pleased to provide project support for a residency and exhibition by Julie Schenkelberg at The Mattress Factory. Born and raised in Cleveland, Julie Schenkelberg states that she learned about the beauty of objects and buildings by observing her crumbling city. She combines discarded domestic objects with industrial materials to create evocative site specific work, inspired by the Rust Belt’s legacy of abandonment—vacant houses, defunct industries, and found shabby furniture embedded with years of memories.
