Deborah Brevoort and Virginia Stage Company

Typically, the foundation supports visual artists but Deborah Brevoort’s play, The Comfort Team, created as part of Virginia Stage Company‘s American Soil Series, was such a good fit with the foundation’s thematic focus in 2011, an exception was made.

Premiering in 2012, The Comfort Team explores the relationships and identities created, maintained, and transformed through an individual’s manipulation of the virtual or digital world.

This project was funded as part of the foundation’s 2011 funding cycle, which explores the interchange and dialogue between the non-locality of the digital world and the existential physicality of our everyday environment.
